IN PERSON WEEKEND WORKSHOPS
If you've fancied giving yoga a go but been a bit apprehensive about joining an established class then this is the workshop for you.
I'll take you through a dozen of the fundamental yoga poses. Importantly you'll learn best practice from the very start of your journey into the world of yoga, which will hold you in such good stead for when you advance your practice.
Along with the physical benefits you can take from the workshop, I'll introduce some breathwork to help you to learn to still your mind.
We'll end with a nurturing, guided relaxation.
Mid January can be a time when we need a bit of a lift. That in-between time when Christmas and New Year have gone but springtime hasn't quite arrived. The idea behind this workshop is to give you that lift - through energising movement but also from the confidence boost that comes from learning something new. Simply getting out to do something nice in the company of others can do wonders for our mood too.
To enhance self belief we'll definitely be doing postures from the Warrior family and I'll maybe include the Tree of Transformation. I'm also thinking of including the Archer and the Thunderbolt postures, both of which we don't tend to do in class.
We'll settle our energy at the end of the session with a nurturing, guided relaxation (which can be done seated or laying down).
Don't be put off by the workshop being 2 hours in length. Feedback from both the November and December workshops was that the time flew by!
Feeling stressed and on edge? Come along to learn breathing techniques to take your mind from the alertness of the “fight or flight” mode to the calm of the “rest and digest” mode.
The pace at which we are expected to live has got faster and faster. Especially so over the last couple of decades. These days our brains have to process so much information and deal with so much (noise and light) stimuli. It’s no wonder we are becoming increasingly frazzled.
In this workshop you’ll learn how to use the breath to slow down. We'll combine the breath with gentle movement whilst standing, and also whilst laying down. When we are able to totally sync the breath and movement we reach a "sweet spot", when our minds switch off and we experience those "where was I?" moments.
We’ll also be exploring yoga nidra (yogic sleep) where the mind is taken to a restful state, between being awake and asleep, via guided meditation. And we’ll do some seated tratak (candle gazing). This practice of meditating on a candle flame particularly suits the cosy autumn and winter months.
Don't be put off by the workshop being 2 hours in length. Feedback from when I last ran this workshop was that the time flew by!
So bring your cushion, blanket and eye mask (if you have one) and allow yourself to rest and recharge over a quiet couple of hours.
Please note - This is a repeat of the workshop held on the 01 December 2024.

A couple of hours to switch off, in a friendly, welcoming space.
All abilities welcome.
Some movement to warm us up and to release tension from our bodies.
Depending on the focus of the workshop either:
- breaking down and then building up a flowing sequence, combining the breath and movement, or;
- posture work to maintain a healthy back, or;
- calming breathwork techniques..
A guided relaxation to finish.
A non-slip yoga mat.
Gym and camping mats can move about so are not recommended for yoga.
Water to keep yourself hydrated.
An extra layer (like a fleece or hoodie) for when we are warming up and cooling down.
(Optional) A cushion to rest your head, or sit on, during the relaxation and to cushion your knees when doing kneeling postures.
(Optional ) A blanket for feeling cosy and warm during the relaxation (our bodies tend to cool as they relax).
(Optional) An eye mask for the relaxation.
Clothes that you can move, stretch and twist in, such as gym wear.
It's a good idea to bring an extra layer (like a fleece or hoodie) for when we are warming up and cooling down.
No need to be concerned about foot-wear as bare feet are best for yoga.
